About the Muskegon Lumberjacks
The Muskegon Lumberjacks are a Tier I junior ice hockey team playing out of Muskegon, MI. Hockey has been a staple of Muskegon for decades, dating back to the Muskegon Zephyrs in the 1960s, the Mohawks from 1965 to 1984, then the original Muskegon Lumberjacks in the 80s and 90s, followed by the Muskegon Fury until 2008 when the team was renamed back to the Muskegon Lumberjacks to reflect back on the glory days of Muskegon Hockey.

Their Situation
The Muskegon Lumberjacks were looking to boost awareness and breathe some life and creativity into their marketing. Their recent marketing was typically created by their in-house team, and they were looking for agency-level support for more creative ideas, a marketing plan, and a theme that their team could work from when creating their ongoing marketing needs.
Our solution
We facilitated multiple whiteboard planning sessions, conducted market research, reviewed their past themes, and established a new, bold look and feel, brand messaging, and campaign theme to get them more exposure and notoriety.
Kindred’s approach included multiple team brainstorming sessions, design and copy exploration of multiple options for client selection, and providing unique marketing ideas and tactics in addition to managing their marketing and media plan for the entire season.
We developed all marketing materials from print to digital, provide assets for their team, hold regular consulting and mentoring sessions with their in-house marketers, and work closely with leadership to ensure the brand remains strong.
